    This is a rare July 1973 issue of London's "PLAYS and PLAYERS" magazine featuring ANGELA LANSBURY
    on the front cover.
    She was starring in the
    Original West End production of the JULE STYNE and STEPHEN SONDHEIM musical comedy "GYPSY" at the Piccadilly Theatre in London. (The London production opened May 29th, 1973 and ran for 300 performances. A Broadway revival would follow beginning September 23rd, 1974 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City, running for 120 performances.) ..... The musical starred ANGELA LANSBURY as "Mama Rose" (the role originated by ETHEL MERMAN in 1959) and featured BARRY INGHAM as "Herbie", ZAN CHARISSE as "Louise" and BONNIE LANGFORD as "Baby June" ..... Side Note: ANGELA LANSBURY would win the Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Musical" in 1975, the award that eluded ETHEL MERMAN in 1960 .....
