  • Condition: This Wheeler and Wilson machine is pre-Singer design. It has been in home and in air- conditioned storage for years. Used as a TV stand. Will be available for pickup in August at Issaquah, WA location with agreement of seller.Wooden cabinet with 4 drawers shows wear, metal in acceptable condition. Metal box of attachments in drawer. Didn't want to damage with improper cleaning of head in original condition.see below for more info

    Wheeler & Wilson MF'G Co, Bridgeport, Conn.  Serial No. 28 860 3 5.  Patented: July 17th (18)88,
    Mar 25th (18)90, Aug 2 (18)92.  A No. 9 machine, company later purchased by the Singer Company.
    Singer Corporation
    took over the Wheeler and Wilson Manufacturing Company in 1905.

    Singer continued to produce the Wheeler and Wilson #9 model sewing machine under its own brand name until at least 1913.

    The company won a number of Prize Medals, including at the Industrial Exposition,
    Paris
    1861, International Exhibition of London 1862, and the Exposition Universelle, Paris 1868, 1878 and 1889.
    Much history with this machine:  This was my grandmother's machine (probably purchased new--before she passed, when it was moved to my my aunt's home.  As Aunt Jo designed and sewed her own clothes from the age of 16 and used this machine her whole life; she could get the treadle going like a fast dance step! I was taught to sew on this machine as a child in the 1940's by my Aunt Josephine, using patterned sugar and flour sacks, as was done in those days on the southern Illinois farm.
    It has been used as a tv stand in my home for years, but I must downsize now and part with it.
    Not sure about the cost of shipping which must be paid by purchaser, or picked up locally in Issaquah, WA in August, 2021.
