This is a rare autographed souvenir program from the State Fair Musicals production of the ALAN JAY LERNER and FREDERICK LOEWE musical comedy "PAINT YOUR WAGON" at the State Fair Auditorium in Dallas, Texas from August 17th to 30th, 1953. (The Original Broadway production opened November 12th, 1951 atthe Sam S. Shubert Theatre in New York City
and ran for 289 performances.) ..... The musical starred KENT SMITH, DONALD RICHARDS, CHRISTINE MATHEWS, BOB WILLIAMS and RED DUST and featured BEATRICE "Bea" ARTHUR (who signed the front cover), MARIA KARNILOVA, PAUL UKENA, KAY MEDFORD, NEWTON SULLIVAN, HOLLY HARRIS, RALPH BUNKER, DAVID AIKEN, JOHN RANDOLPH, GUY SPAULL and seventeen year-old LEE REMICK. Listed among the ensemble were ALLEN JONES, JAMES MITCHELL and CARMEN ALVAREZ ..... Also includes a full page promoting the two week engagement of the ETHEL MERMAN SHOW, opening October 10th, 1953 at the State Fair Auditorium ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
