I'm currently listing a large number of playbills representing some of the most memorable Broadway performances (good and bad) of the 1950's and 1960's ....... This is a rare playbill from the week of February 8th, 1960 for the Original Broadway production of the BUD FREEMAN and LEON POBER musical flop "BEG, BORROW or STEAL" at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City. (The production opened February 10th, 1960 and closed after only five performances.) ..... The musical starred LARRY PARKS, BETTY GARRETT and EDDIE BRACKEN (all three shown in cover photos) and featured BIFF McGUIRE, ESTELLE PARSONS, BERNICE MASSI, ROY STUART, RICHARD WOODS, CLAIBORNE CARY, DAVID DOYLE, KAREN SARGENT, BETTY RHODES and JEAN BRUNO ..... CREDITS: Book and Lyrics by BUD FREEMAN from a story by MARVIN SEIGER and BUD FREEMAN; Music by LEON POBER; Sets and Costumes designed by CARTER MORNINGSTAR; Choreographed by PETER HAMILTON; Musical Direction by HAL HIDEY; Directed by DAVID DOYLE; Staged by BILLY MATTHEWS; Produced by EDDIE BRACKEN in association with CARROLL and HARRIS MASTERSON ..... DETAILS: The 38 page playbill measures 6 1/2" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors and members of the creative team but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a light corner crease and minor edge wear, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
