The movie was narrated by JOHN STEINBECK, who made his only on-camera appearance to introduce each film. Part one, "THE COP AND THE ANTHEM", starred CHARLES LAUGHTON, MARILYN MONROE, DAVID WAYNE, THOMAS BROWNE HENRY and RICHARD KARLAN. Part two, "THE CLARION CALL", starred DALE ROBERTSON, RICHARD WIDMARK, JOYCE MacKENZIE, RICHARD ROBER and HOUSE PETERS, Sr. Part three, "THE LAST LEAF", starred ANNA BAXTER, JEAN PETERS, GREGORY RATOFF, RICHARD GARRICK and STEVEN GERAY and the final part, "THE GIFT OF THE MAGI", starred JEANNE CRAIN, FARLEY GRANGER, FRED KELSEY, SIG RUMAN and HARRY HAYDEN .....
