This is a rare issue of "NEW YORK AMUSEMENTS", Broadway's Theatre Guide for the week of May 9th, 1931 featuring FANNIE BRICE on the front cover. She was one of the stars of the upcoming Original Broadway production of theBILLY ROSE musical revue "CRAZY QUILT"
at New York's 44th Street Theatre
. (The production would open May 19th, 1931 at the 44th Street Theatre and run for 79 performances.) ..... The musical starred FANNIE BRICE, PHIL BAKER and TED HEALY (original member of "The Three Stooges") and featured GOMEZ and WINONA, LEW BRICE, TOM MONROE, ETHEL NORRIS, VALE & STEWART, MARION BONNELL and TAMARA ..... Side Note: One of the show's stars was TED HEALY (1896-1937), the mastermind behind the legendary comedy team "Ted Healy and the Stooges", later known as "THE THREE STOOGES". It was in the winter of 1922 that MOE HOWARD noticed an ad in the newspaper announcing that his childhood friend Ted and his new wife Betty were appearing in their vaudeville act at the Prospect Theater in Brooklyn. Moe had not seen Ted for ten years at this point. He went to the theater where he and Ted reunited forming an act where Moe jumped up out of the audience and pulled Ted's pants completely off. The act was a huge success and led to the future "Stooges" with MOE, his brother SHEMP HOWARD and LARRY FINE ..... and was the weekly Guide to Broadway Theatre and also includes listings for motion pictures and nightclubs. Includes a wonderful illustration of ETHEL WATERS (second scanned image) who was starring in the "Sizzling Negro" musical revue "Rhapsody in Black" at the Harris Theatre

CONDITION: With the exception of light rust marks along the inside seam (eighth scanned image), this weekly guide is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
