This is a rare February 19th, 1969 programme (playbill) from the Original West End production of the landmark MART CROWLEY play "THE BOYS IN THE BAND" at Wyndham's Theatre in London. (The Original Off-Broadway production opened April 14th, 1968 at Theatre Four in New York City and ran for 1001 performances. The London production began previews on February 5th, 1969 and officially opened February 11th, 1969.) ..... The controversial play was among the first to revolve around gay characters and the motion picture released two years later (with the play's original cast) is often cited as a milestone in the history of "
queer cinema

he exception of one actor, the original New York Cast crossed the Atlantic to repeat their roles in London, but only in the opening weeks. The
