This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the three-week, Post-Broadway engagement of the OSCAR WILDE comedy "LADY WINDERMERE'S FAN" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. beginning September 15th, 1947. (The revival opened October 14th, 1946 at the Cort Theatre in New York City and ran for 228 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred CORNELIA OTIS SKINNER and featured DAVID MANNERS, ESTELLE WINWOOD, BRAMWELL FLETCHER, JUDITH FELLOWS, REX EVANS and GEORGE THIRLWELL ..... DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, two-sided handbill measures approx. 6" X 9" inches and includes a wonderful production photo and performance dates on one side and excerpts from several reviews and production details on the other side ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing, a couple small edge tears and minor edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
