    This is a rare November 21st, 1950 programme (playbill) from the four-week, Provincial Tour engagement of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "OKLAHOMA!" at the Bristol Hippodrome in Bristol, England. (The Original West End production opened April 29th, 1947 at London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, moved on May 29th, 1950 to the Stoll Theatre and ran for 1543 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ..... The cast included JENNIE GREGSON, JOHN ELLIOTT, MARILYN NOWELL, JACK HIGGINSON, MAXWELL COKER, GLENN MARTEN, PETER FELGATE, ALFRED CIBELLI, BILLIE LOVE, HARRY ROSS, LAURA HEDLEY, JOAN STEER, MONICA BRENT, PATRICIA HALLIGAN, JOYCE MORETON, MARGUERITE STEWART, PAYNE CONVERSE, GEORGINA ROURKE, STAN THOMASON, IVOR SMITH, IAN STUART, ANTHONY COPPOCK, MICHAEL ROCHARDE and BABETTE REGNIER ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS. (This was the first collaboration for Rodgers and Hammerstein who would go on to write "Carousel", "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Sets designed by LEMUEL AYERS; Costumes designed by MILES WHITE; Choreographed by AGNES de MILLE; Directed by ROUBEN MAMOULIAN; Produced by THE THEATRE GUILD ..... DETAILS: The four page playbill measures 5" X 7 1/2" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and list of musical numbers, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of the start of a split at the bottom seam and light creasing, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
