    This is a rare January 29th, 1945 playbill from the National Tour engagement of the groundbreaking RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "OKLAHOMA!" at the Davidson Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (The production opened March 31st, 1943 at the St. James Theatre in New York City and ran for 2212 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ..... The ensemble cast included JOHN RAITT, BETTY JANE WATSON, MARY MARLO, DAVID BURNS, WANDA COCHRAN, AL WEBSTER, BRENT FLENNIKEN, VICTOR YOUNG, WALTER DONAHUE, MURVYN VYE, DOROTHEA McFARLAND, LOIS HIGGINS, DANIA KRUPSKA, BARBARA BRIGHAM, SONIA WOJCIKOWSKA, KATHERINE LITZ, GEMZE DE LAPPE, DAVE MALLEN, EUGENE KEITH, ROBERT EARLY, ERIK KRISTEN, JERRY CLAYTON, EDWIN ZIEGLER and ALFRED CIBELLI, Jr. ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS. (This was the first collaboration for Rodgers and Hammerstein who would go on to write "Carousel", "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Sets designed by LEMUEL AYERS; Costumes designed by MILES WHITE; Choreographed by AGNES de MILLE; Directed by ROUBEN MAMOULIAN; Produced by THE THEATRE GUILD ..... DETAILS: This eight page playbill measures 6 3/4" X 10" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and list of musical numbers but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) The playbill originally had twelve pages, but four of the pages are missing and the remaining pages are loose. There is also minor creasing from having been folded into quarters. Despite these flaws, this rare playbill will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
