    This is a rare souvenir program from the one week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE classic "OTHELLO" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. beginning December 14th, 1936. (The revival would open January 6th, 1937 at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City and run for only 21 performances.) ..... The play starred WALTER HUSTON as "Othello" and ROBERT KEITH (replaced out-of-town by BRIAN AHERNE) as "Iago" and featured NAN SUNDERLAND, NATALIE HALL, G. P. HUNTLEY, Jr., ARTHUR PIERSON, EDWARD FIELDING, A. P. KAYE, WALTER BECK, JOSEPH ROEDER, WILLIAM E. MORRIS, LEO CHALZEL, GEORGE SPAULDING, PHILIP FOSTER, ELLIOTT C. BROWN, Jr., GEORGE W. MASTERS, AL BAYFIELD, G. B. KINGSTON, NATAN SACK, EDWARD JAMES and in the ensemble, LLOYD BRIDGES (in what would be his Broadway debut) ..... DETAILS: The oversized 20 page program measures 9 1/8" X 12 1/8" inches, has a die-cut cover and includes full production credits, several photos and a bio of WALTER HUSTON, list of characters, promotional and historical text and bios of the seven leading actors and several members of the creative team. The cover has an onion skin wrap shown in the second scanned image. Includes a clipped photo (not shown) from a Washington, D.C. newspaper ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of tearing to the onion skin wrap and minor edge wear, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
