    Description

This is a rare March 14th, 2003 playbill from the Philadelphia Premiere engagement of the JASON ROBERT BROWN musical "THE LAST FIVE YEARS" at the Plays and Players Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The Original Off-Broadway production opened March 3rd, 2002 at New York's Minetta Lane Theatre and ran for two months, closing May 5th, 2002. The Philadelphia Theatre Company production opened March 14th, 2003 and ran for a limited engagement of one month, closing April 13th, 2003.) ..... With a beautiful score by the Tony Award winning JASON ROBERT BROWN ("Parade" in 1999, "The Bridges of Madison County" in 2014), the musical starred WAYNE WILCOX as "Jamie" and NICOLE VAN GIESEN (who was the understudy for SHERIE RENE SCOTT at New York's Minetta Lane Theatre) as "Cathy" ..... Loosely based on JASON ROBERT BROWN's own failed first marriage, the show is a two-character musical which tells the history of a relationship from two different perspectives. The male's narrative begins at the beginning of the story and progresses through marriage, infidelity, and divorce, while the female narrative begins at the end of the relationship and ends with the couple's first date; the two actors' only direct interaction takes place mid-point, during the wedding sequence ..... CREDITS: Book, Music and Lyrics by JASON ROBERT BROWN ("Parade", "Songs for a New World", "The Last 5 Years", "Urban Cowboy", "13", "The Bridges of Madison County", "Honeymoon in Vegas"); Sets designed by MICHAEL FAGIN; Costumes designed by ANNE KENNEDY; Directed by JOE CALARCO; Produced by THE PHILADELPHIA THEATRE COMPANY ..... DETAILS: The 20 page playbill measures 7 1/4" X 9 1/2" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and individual photos and bios of each of the actors and leading members of the creative team. Includes a single-page insert with the list of musical numbers and the musicians (last scanned image) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
