I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ....... This is a rare autographed October 24th, 1938 playbill from the Pre-Broadway tryout of the COLE PORTER musical comedy "LEAVE IT TO ME!" at the Shubert Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. (The production would open November 9th, 1938 at the Imperial Theatre in New York City and run for 291 performances.) ..... The musical marked the Broadway debuts of two entertainment legends: MARY MARTIN and GENE KELLY. Starring in the show were WILLIAM GAXTON and VICTOR MOORE with SOPHIE TUCKER and TAMARA in supporting roles. Others in the cast included RUTH BOND, BEVERLY HOSIER, WILLIAM LILLING, WALTER MONROE, EDWARD H. ROBINS, APRIL, MILDRED CHENAVAL, RUTH DAYE, AUDREY PALMER, KAY PICTURE, CHET BREE, GEORGE E. MACK, WALTER ARMIN, JAMES W. CARR, MAURICE KELLY, ROY ROSS, JACK SEYMOUR, JACK STANTON, WALTER B.
